About Hacemos

In the Fall of 2024, I was talking with a couple moms whose children had transitioned from dual-language programs to monolingual middle schools. We shared the challenge of maintaining Spanish fluency—something I was also navigating with my own children, who have only one Spanish-speaking parent at home. I had tried a Spanish language class for them, but they found it tedious. The idea of sitting down just to "learn a language" didn’t inspire them.

That’s where the idea for Hacemos was born—a place where young artists can explore a diverse range of projects while immersing themselves in Spanish.

I launched my first session last fall, and it was a success. I loved watching the kids engage with the language organically—when Spanish wasn’t the focus but simply part of the process, they felt free to communicate without pressure to "get it right."
